Rejoice!

This weekend I had my first performances as the newest member of the Festival Choir of Madison. I auditioned for the choir in November, made it in as a second soprano, and have been rehearsing the past couple of months for our holiday concert, "Rejoice!". It is such a joy to sing in a choir again!

We had a diverse repetoire, including:
- A movement of a Debussy work lamenting the month of winter as "nothing but a wretch"!
- An arrangement of "Wassail" for full choir by Ralph Vaughn Williams
- An early work by one of my favorite modern choral composers, Stephen Paulus
- A Latvian wassail song and a baroque Mexican cantata!

We performed this afternoon at the Capitol Theatre, part of the Overture Center for the Arts downtown. The acoustics are absolutely wonderful for choral singing. Renowned harpist Maryann Harr accompanied us on several pieces, which was a real treat.

I was cheered on at the concert by my parents, Bodo, Harpo and Allen. (Thanks for coming out, everyone!!!)
